A Cub Scout or Webelos Scout is registered in the world's largest youth organization - Cub Scouting is a Division of Boy
Scouts of America. Here is how it works:
- Each Cub Scout or Webelos Scout is a member of a Den.
- Each den meets weekly.
- The dens together make up Pack 64.
- The Pack meets monthly.
Den Leadership
- Each den is led by a Den Leader.
- Each den (except Tigers) requires an Assistant Den Leader, also a parent.
- When a leadership vacancy occurs within a den, a new leader from within that parent group will fill the vacancy.
Training is required for den leaders, providing a base upon which to build and deliver a quality Scouting program.
Den Size
- The target size of a den is 6-8 boys. When a den exceeds 8 members, it may be necessary to split into 2 smaller
dens.
See our information on specific dens for additional information.
Den Meetings
- Den meetings will be scheduled by each Den Leader. Check with your Den Leader for weekly scheduling of time and
place.
- Den meetings should be attended regularly to receive the full values of the program.
- Scouts will generally alternate bringing a snack.
- Den meetings should be attended regularly to receive the full values of the program.
- If possible, let your Den Leader know about planned absences in advance
to aid in planning and materials as well as to receive current program information.
Pack Meetings
- Pack 64 generally schedules a Pack Meeting once each month. Pack meetings are
normally held in the
Church Hall and will last between 1 and 2 hours.
- Some months, the regular Pack Meeting is replaced by another pack event (e.g., the Pinewood Derby). See our
upcoming events listing for the current schedule.
- Pack meetings are an integral part of Scouting, and Scouts should attend all meetings.
- Parent(s) or designated adult should accompany a Scout the Pack meetings. Guests are welcome.
- Dens will be assigned responsibility for the set-up and clean-up of meeting place, welcoming families to the pack
meeting, opening and closing flag ceremonies, and various other duties on a rotating schedule.
Meeting General Guidance
- Scout functions will be scheduled to begin and end at specific times.
Scouts and their parents are expected to be present when an activity begins
and leave promptly upon completion.
- Scouts should wear uniforms at all Scouting activities unless otherwise specified.
- The Pack operates on a budget. Annual dues go towards awards, ribbons,
supplies and registration fees to Boy Scouts of America. All fees must be
paid within 30 days of annual registration.
- In case of financial hardship, see a leader to make special arrangements.
- In addition to annual dues, most of our budget comes from the one a year
Popcorn Sales.
- Parents are expected to work with their Scouts on advancements in
conjunction with Den Leaders.
- Advancement ceremonies will be held at monthly Pack Meetings.
- Den Leaders will submit requests for awards to the Award Chair no later than
the Thursday prior to the Pack Meeting/Event.
- Advancement awards will not be presented to a Scout, unless one parent or
designated adult is also in attendance.
- See our description of the Cub Scout Path for additional information on advancement.
